This three-day course looks at the concepts of programming. We start at the beginning and understand things like types of languages such as dynamic or static and the difference. We look at variables and data types, arrays(lists), conditionals (if statements), functions, file and error handling. Followed by loops an introduction to understanding Object Orientated Programming (OOP).

While the course uses Python for the examples and lab work, the course is presented so it can be used in any language such as Java, PHP, JavaScript, C#, Ruby and others.

For this course, you will need to install the following: If on Windows – you will need Python itself. Don’t worry, we will walk you through this on the first day of the course. This means you may need admin privileges, or if a work computer – have the IT team install Python for you.

We also need to get an IDE (development tool). We recommend JetBrians PyCharm Community Edition, which is free and has no expiration date and can be used for Commercial and Education Work. Simply download it from JetBrains. We will of course, walk you through this as well at the start of class.

This course will give you the basic tools to learn other languages and get deeper into our Python courses as well.
